When it comes to homes evoking mid-century modernism, Palm Springs has a fantastic trove to choose from. But the city has its eyes on one more — in New York — and will throw a party to further rally funds to bring it west. Tracy Conrad, the chief operating office for Smoke Tree Ranch in Palm Springs and a well-known local preservationist, is helping to organize the event, cleverly scheduled during Modernism Week and to be held at what used to be the Tramway Gas Station, another building designed by Frey, a much—lauded mid-century modern architect who lived and worked in Palm Springs for many years.
